SSS distributes 35.73 tons of fertilizers among 467 farmers in Jamalpur

SSS distributed different types of fertilizers to 467 farmers in the Ghosherpara union of Melandaha upazila of Jamalpur. Each farmer got 76.5 kilograms of fertilizers. Under the ECCCP-Flood (Extended Community Climate Change Project-Flood), SSS took this initiative to provide support to the climate-change vulnerable and marginal farmers for cultivating Aman paddy during this season. PKSF provides financial support for this project.

 

 On this occasion, a fertilizer distribution ceremony was held on 6 July 2023 in the compound of Beltoil High School of Ghosherpara Union. Engineer Md. Kamruzzaman, Chairman of Melandaha Upazila Parishad was present at the ceremony as chief guest whereas Mr. S.M. Yahia, Deputy Director and Head of Department (Research and Publication) of SSS; Mr. Md. Ataur Rahman (Altabi), Chairman of Ghosherpara Union Awami League and Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Headmaster of Beltoil High School spoke at the ceremony as special guests. Mr. Md. Saidul Islam Litu, Chairman of Ghosherpara Union Parishad presided over the ceremony.

 

At that time, the fertilizer-receiving farmers, local elites, staffs of ECCCP-Flood and different sections of SSS were present. 

 

SSS started implementing Extended Community Climate Change Project (ECCCP-Flood) on 10 November 2020 in five Unions of Islampur and Melandaha upazila of Jamalpur. The activities under the project include: raising homestead plinths for flood-vulnerable people living in char regions, installing tube-wells and sanitary latrines in the project area, providing support to reconstruct houses and build slatted houses for goat/lamb rearing, providing training and agricultural equipment for high-yielding crop cultivation and so on.
